SHOCK posters appeared in the East End this week calling on Muslims to "rise up against British oppression" and protest outside Downing Street.
They were stuck on phone boxes and walls in Bethnal Green and Cambridge Heath on Friday, accusing Britain of a media propaganda campaign against Muslims, attacking the veil and 'insults against messengers of God'.
But it brought condemnation among the East End's Muslim community leaders.
Dr Muhammad Bari, chairman of the East London mosque in Whitechapel and head of the Muslim Council of Britain, told the Advertiser: "This is not the kind of language anyone should be using."
The posters invite Muslims to join a 'peaceful protest' at No 10 and gave a link to a website which says organisers hope the demo will put pressure on the Government to release Muslim captives, show the community 'won't be silenced through terror laws' and raids and fulfil the Muslim 'obligation of commanding good and forbidding evil.'
