7/7 bomb victims in new health checks

09 March 2006
COMMUTERS caught up in the 7/7 bombings are being urged to put their names to a follow-up list to keep track of their health.

Anyone who was exposed to the fumes, blood or debris from the bombings on the London Underground last July is being asked to add their names to list being compiled by the Health Protection Agency.

The list will then be used to monitor the long term health and psychological affects of the bombings at Aldgate, King's Cross, Russell Square and Edgware Road.

Professor Mike Catchpole, who is co-ordinating the list said: "Experience from similar incidents in New York and Madrid has shown the immense value of a co-ordinated health follow-up."

The agency is looking for people who were caught up in the blasts to add their names to the voluntary and confidential list, which already includes more than 100 people. The agency is urging those wanting to register to call 8327 6434.
