Teachers from Bangladesh visit Tower Hamlets
12 October 2009
Teachers from Bangladesh visited schools in Tower Hamlets last week to forge closer links with the UK and to build greater cultural understanding amongst young people and their teachers.
British Council's 'Connecting Classrooms' programme partners schools from across continents so teachers can prepare young people for life in a global society.
The teachers from Sunamganj in Sylhet visited St Matthias Primary School, Bethnal Green Technology College and Central Foundation Girls School.
The visiting teachers joined Year 4 pupils at St Matthias on trips to the Thames Barrier and for workshop at the Museum in Docklands where they learnt about the River Thames.
The visit gave the teachers the opportunity to meet some of the pupils and teachers they have been corresponding with over the past year.
