Tower Hamlets hires ex-Haringey councillor as PR boss
13 January 2010
TOWN HALL bosses have appointed a new PR chief on a £100,000 salary in what looks like a job swap with another local authority.
Tower Hamlets’ new head of communication Takki Sulaiman, a former Haringey councillor, takes over from Charles Skinner who has moved in the other direction, to Haringey Council.
Mr Sulaiman is thought to have been involved in hiring Sharon Shoesmith, the head of Haringey’s social services forced to resign over the ‘Baby P’ scandal.
He is to head a huge department of 28 media staff at Tower Hamlets, including those running the council’s tax-subsidised ‘East End Life’ newspaper which has come in for criticism in the Commons today as being “a threat to local democracy.”
