EX-GANGLAND figure ‘Mad’ Fankie Frazer turns up in London’s East End today (Thurs) for a shooting.
But this time it’s with a film crew, having landed the part of a 1960s villain.
Producer Rose Hancock has invited the 84-year-old retired gang boss from the Elephant & Castle to take part in a short film, A Man Alone, about a man who kills his wife.
They are filming on location in Bethnal Green’s famous Columbia Road, with its original cobblestones and Victorian lamp-posts and shop fronts.
The three-minute movie is one of 42 projects shortlisted for the Fourteen Islands competition. The winning crew gets an all-expenses trip to the Bahamas in the New Year to make a short film about one of the Bahamas’ 14 islands.
The story being shot today is about an elderly man who accidentally kills his wife and is able to conceal it, but realizes he has nothing to live for without her. Being left without her is more than enough punishment for the crime.
Frankie Fraser, playing the role of a 1960s villain, is very likely to steal the show if nothing else.
