West Ham midfielder Jack Collison confident Hammers can climb table

West Ham midfielder Jack Collison insists that the players are not concerned by their current league position.

The Hammers are one place and one point above the drop zone as they head into this weekend's crunch match at home to Burnley, but the Welsh international feels the East End club are on the right track and could sooner or later, destroy an opposing team.

"I think it's (a good result) is coming. We've got a lot of very good players who can score goals, but it is just a matter of stopping the other team scoring now," Collison said.

"We are all working hard, and if we can string a couple of results together we can really push forward.

"No (we are not worried about our league position). We come in every day to work hard. The manager and the coaching staff are brilliant.

"We just enjoy it, but obviously we are a little disappointed about the position we are in at the moment, but we are going to work to get out of it."

And Collison is sure the hard work they put in now will pay dividends over the coming weeks as they look to move clear of the bottom three.

"We know we've got to improve, we know we've got to pick up more points, but we are willing to put the work in, stick together and come Christmas we hope to be further up the table," he said.

"We feel we've got good players and we feel we are doing the right things, but it is just the case of some mistakes creeping in. It is hard to put your finger on it, but we are going to keep playing, keep working hard and I'm sure the points are going to start coming, because we are playing some nice stuff.

"We are disappointed to be down there, but it is not a case of saying things now, it is a case of doing things on the pitch."

Collison did that on Saturday when he scored West Ham's second as they went 2-0 up against Hull, only to end up drawing 3-3.

It was his first goal of the season and he admitted instructions from the management to get forward more often could have contributed.

"I feel and the management feel that I need to be doing more for the team going forward. I've been working hard in training at trying to improve on that. Today was the start and hopefully I can score a few more goals in the future," he said, before explaining that he is getting back to match fitness after picking up a knock against Everton a few weeks ago.

"I'm feeling I'm slowly getting there. Obviously these niggles take a little time to get over. But at the moment I'm just trying to do my bit for the team, it is very important that we all dig deep and work for each other.
