Arsenal legend Stewart Robson has insisted that the Gunners should sell wantaway striker Robin van Persie, who is wanted by Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Dutchman announced he would not extend his current contract with the north Londoners, which expires next year and has been the subject of intense speculation since then.

“Arsenal need to move on,” Robson told talkSPORT. “Robin Van Persie has got to go. You can’t keep him as club captain, you can’t keep him at all.

“Move him on, get some money for him and then reinvest in the team.”
