Manchester United legend David Beckham has backed Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp to replace Fabio Capello as England manager.

The Spurs boss has been heavily linked with the Three Lions job in the past week and he has also had backing from Sir Alex Ferguson, Rio Ferdinand, Martin O’Neill.

“Harry is a great man, a great manager. His man-management is incredible,” said Beckham, who was invited to train with Spurs during the Major League Soccer off-season.

“I’ve known players that have played under him, I’ve trained under him and he’s not just a great manager but a great person as well.”

Beckham also backed Capello after his row with the FA led over their decision to strip John Terry of the England captaincy after his court date for an alleged racist slur was put back until after Euro 2012.

“Coach’s call,” he said. “That’s always the case.

“Obviously the decision was taken to take the captaincy away from John but going forward I’m sure the captain will be picked by whatever manager steps in.”
