Italy’s World Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro believes that Napoli need to score against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in order to progress.

The Azzurri triumphed 3-1 at the Stadio San Paolo thanks to goals from Ezequiel Lavezzi (2) and Edinson Cavani – Juan Mata got Chelsea’s goal.

“The return leg at Stamford Bridge won’t be easy,” Cannavaro said.

“There will be a hot environment and they’ll need to take a step up in quality to defend their advantage, as their lead may not be enough.

“They’ll have to score at least one goal against the Blues.”

Cannavaro praised the way Napoli, captained by his brother Paolo, reacted after trailing to Juan Mata’s goal.

“The team united after going behind,” he added. “They recovered to play a great game, everyone did well.”
