2012 developers organise fun day to get supporters on track

DEVELOPERS of the athletes’ village for the 2012 Olympics are running a fun day to get the community involved in the project. Lend Lease, the company behind the design, is staging the event on Friday (July 4) at Stratford shopping centre in East London

DEVELOPERS of the athletes’ village for the 2012 Olympics are running a fun day to get the community involved in the project.

Lend Lease, the company behind the design, is staging the event on Friday (July 4) at Stratford shopping centre in East London.

Activities include a live chat show, competitions with prizes such as a helicopter ride over the development, a giant exhibit telling the Athletes Village story and a diary room’ where the public can give their views and offer ideas.

The Village will house 17,000 athletes and officials from around the globe during the London Olympics.

Afterwards, the development will be transformed into a community of 3,500, with the huge Stratford transport interchange on its doorstep and 10 hectares of parks and open spaces.

Friday’s event runs 11am to 5pm.
