Sara Scobie, 23, has progressed through the stages of a national competition run by Mr Branson’s Virgin Media group, to join a group of 10 people with responsibility for organising the event, which will be held in September.

After graduating from Kingston University last summer, she became one of 100 successful applicants to win an internship, and was chosen as one of the final 10 after excelling during her placement.

Sara will focus on the creative side of the event, but will have a say in almost all of its elements. She said: “I’m thrilled to be one of the final ten – it is such an amazing opportunity.

“I’ll be the creative lead, so I’ll be letting my imagination run wild to design the set for the event. I can’t wait to start working with the other finalists to create an event to remember.”
