A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following an assault on an elderly woman at Shoreditch High Street train station.

The 84-year-old victim suffered injuries to her shoulder after she fell backwards over a bag during a row with a male passenger on Thursday at around 2.20pm on Thursday.

Following an appeal, a 62-year-old man from London was arrested and interviewed in connection to the incident.

He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue, according to British Transport Police.

“We would like to thank the public and media for sharing this appeal,” the railway police body added.
