The Bow hotel where two suspects behind the Salisbury nerve agent attack are believed to have stayed says it is fully supporting the police with their investigation.

Russian nationals Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov stayed at the City Stay Hotel in Bow Road, on March 2 and 3.

No one was available for comment at the hotel, however the hotel’s management staff said in a statement:

“The City Stay Hotel in Bow Road is open for business as usual.

“We are fully supporting the police investigation. We are reassured that the police and Public Health England have confirmed very clearly that there is no health risk whatsoever to our guests or our staff.”

Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia survived the attempted assassination using Novichok however Dawn Sturgess died on July 8 after she later was exposed to the nerve agent which was smuggled into the country in a disguised perfume bottle.

Her partner Charlie Rowley survived.

Tower Hamlets mayor John Biggs sought to reassure residents about their concerns.

He said: “We should be reassured that following tests, experts deemed that the room was safe and that it posed no risk to the public.”

Tests carried out on May 4 in the hotel room where the suspects stayed in, showed the room was contaminated with Novichok.

However, the levels were below that which would cause concern for public health.

Additional tests carried out on the room have produced negative results.
