A man who took part in a string of knifepoint robberies and assaults around Limehouse and Mile End has been jailed for six years.

Mejanoor Rahman, 31, and an unknown partner in crime mugged a pizza delivery man at knifepoint in Camdenhurst Street, Limehouse, at around 10.15pm on September 5.

The pair then turned their attention to minicab drivers, carrying out five further knifepoint robberies over the following 10 days.

They assaulted two victims and on three occasions stole and later abandoned a victim’s car.

Rahman, from Carr Street, was arrested on September 15 when found to be carrying two mobile phones used to call the cabbies.

He was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Thursday after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to six counts of robbery and one of fraud.

Police ask anyone who knows the identity of the other man involved to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
