A paramedic whose ambulance got a flat tyre on the Isle of Dogs was thrown a note saying her vehicle would “be smashed” if parked in the “private space” again.

She had returned to the scene in Westferry Road at about 2.45am this morning, having taken a cardiac arrest patient to hospital hours earlier.

A man approached and “acted aggressively”, a spokesman for London Ambulance Service (LAS) said, before she called the police.

Officers arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of a public order offence. He was taken to an east London police station, where he remains.

The note, scrawled in capital letters and shared on the Met’s Tower Hamlets Twitter page, read: “Warning this is a private parking space next time it will be smashed”.

LAS assistant director of operations Natasha Wills said crews “prioritise getting to the scene quickly and safely” but “try to cause minimal disruption”.

“It is never acceptable for our crews to be verbally or physically abused or assaulted,” she added.
