A Poplar man who concealed more than £115,000 in savings while claiming benefits has been jailed for 13 months.
Stephen Massett of Canton Street was also fined £116,749 and ordered to pay more than £1,000 in prosecution costs at Snaresbrook Crown Court on January 25 for not declaring capital of £116,000.
The fraudster had pleaded guilty on December 8 after claiming more than £89,000 in residential care charges, almost £20,000 in housing and council tax benefits and almost £8,000 in income support.
