Woman arrested in east London in connection with Westminster terror attack

Police investigating yesterday’s terrorist attack in Westminster have arrested a woman in east London.

The 39-year-old was arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and was one of seven taken into custody following overnight raids.

Two women, aged 21 and 26, and four men aged 23, 26, 27 and 28 were arrested across two addresses in Birmingham, with a 58-year-old man arrested at another Birmingham address this morning.

All were arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts.

Officers are continuing to search a property in east London, as well as three in Birmingham and one in Carmathenshire.

Searches at addresses in Brighton and south east London have finished.

Four people, including the attacker – named as Khalid Masood by police – died.

Pc Keith Palmer was killed in the attack, along with two members of the public – college worker Aysha Frade and tourist Kurt Cochran.
