HOW strange that Mike Tyrrell (Tower Hamlets Community Housing) seems to think it's better to remind East Enders of their history by memorising a 1911 anarchist cop killer (Peter the Painter) rather than naming the tower blocks in Sidney Street after the hero police officers who were killed at Houndsditch (Advertiser, September 25).

I feel completely offended by such thinking, especially the fact that Winston Churchill (Home Secretary at the time) almost got killed in the Sidney Street shootout-another reason to honour the three dead policemen rather than the terrorist actions of a few immigrant anarchists. Even better, name one tower block Winston House and the other Churchill House.
