I HAVE just seen a copy of the East London Advertiser about the Jack the Ripper exhibition at the Museum in Docklands ('In the footsteps of the Ripper,' September 4).

I run the 'London Horror' tours in London's East End and am interested in the Whitechapel Murders of 1888-because one of my relations, Harry Hale, was an official police suspect!

Major Smith of the City Police did not think Aaron Kosminski (as you reported) was the Ripper.

Kosminski went into Colney Hatch asylum in 1891-just before Francis Coles, the last victim, was murdered on February 13 that year.
