First Elizabeth line roundels installed

These are the first purple Elizabeth line roundels installed ahead of the line’s official opening in December.

Signs are in place at stations including Custom House, Tottenham Court Road and Farringdon, with more set to follow.

They have been manufactured in Exeter, Glasgow and on the Isle of Wight, and the installation comes as construction on the project reaches its final stages.

Val Shawcross, deputy mayor for transport, said: “The Elizabeth line will truly transform travel across London and the south east.

“The installation of the roundels incorporating TfL’s iconic design shows how close we are now to the line opening.”

In December, the Elizabeth line will initially operate as three services - Liverpool Street to Shenfield, Paddington to Abbey Wood and Paddington to Heathrow - before linking up in December 2019.
