A FORMER manager at an East End GP surgery has been jailed for multiple offences of theft and fraud.

Debbie Sadler, 42, was employed as Practice Manager at the Albion Health Centre in Whitechapel Road while she was on police bail for suspected fraud.

She had been fired from the same position at Pencester Medical Centre in Dover only a month before she moved to the East End.

And at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday she was jailed for four and a half years for stealing £207,791.00 from her Dover employers and fraudulently earning more than £93,000 at this and other practices.

According to an investigation by the NHS Counter Fraud Service, Sadler had managed to land the job in Whitechapel after forging her references using the name of a GP at Pencester Medical Centre.

But it is believed she had only been working at the surgery for a few weeks before staff discovered the truth and she was dismissed in July 2008.

On October 15 last year, Sadler was charged with multiple offences of theft and fraud.

It also emerged she had been employed since March 2009 as maternity cover for the Practice Manager position at The Keats Group Practice in Hampstead and had lined up her next job at the Prince of Wales Group Practice in Kentish Town.

Sadler of Waltham Close in Willesborough, Ashford, Kent pleaded guilty to 27 of 30 charges.
