MEET the money market traders of the future. Today they may be just a bunch of kids from London’s deprived East End ready to go back to school next week. But tomorrow they could be the big wheelers and dealers of Canary Wharf, having spend some in the summer holiday seeing how big finance works

MEET the money market traders of the future.

Today they may be just a bunch of kids from London’s deprived East End ready to go back to school next week.

But tomorrow they could be the big wheelers and dealers of Canary Wharf, having spent some time in the summer holiday seeing how big finance works.

Around 60 youngsters aged eight to 12 were invited for a day’s work experience’ at Lehman Brothers, the global investment bank at Canary Wharf.

It was part of a summer scheme organised by Poplar Harca community association to show the youngsters on neighbouring estates in Poplar and Mile End the career opportunities that one day might be available on their doorstep.

The housing management organisation has a long-standing relationship with Lehman Brothers through bank staff volunteering on various community projects over the years.

The youngsters also made a film about the Olympics during their summer day camp as well as being introduced to the financial trading floor at the bank HQ.
