Man held after woman discovered dead in flat

DETECTIVES are holding a man for questioning following the discovery of a woman’s body in a flat in London’s East End. The 33-year-old woman was found in a block of flats at Sidney Street in Whitechapel in Saturday night by officers at 6.40pm who were called to the address following a call to police

DETECTIVES are holding a man for questioning following the discovery of a woman’s body in a flat in London’s East End.

The 33-year-old woman was found at Maurice House, a block of flats in Sidney Street in Whitechapel in Saturday night by officers at 6.40pm who were called to the address by the London Ambulance Service.

But it’s not yet known how the woman died. A post mortem has so far proved inconclusive. Further tests are now being carried out.

The 36-year-old man being questioned remains in custody today, police have confirmed.

Detectives are keeping an open mind at this stage about the circumstances of the woman’s death.
