Eight men have been arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual activity with a child in Tower Hamlets.

The men, all aged 16 to 17-years-old and of Albanian origin, were the subject of a recent investigation by officers from the Met’s Child Exploitation Team.

The investigation relates to allegations made by a 13-year-old girl about two offences, one in Tower Hamlets and one in Hayes, Middlesex, which occurred on September 6/7 and September 21.

Two of the men have now been charged, with the remaining six on police bail pending further inquiries.
