A REWARD of up to £10,000 is being offered by police looking for this man in their hunt for the killer of 21-year-old Mahmood Jama in East London.

The reward is for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of Mohamed Faraj Ali (pictured), who is wanted for questioning, Scotland Yard confirmed last night.

Ali is a British Somali, medium build, about 5ft 7ins tall, with a small scar on his right cheek.

His last known address was in Forest Gate, but detectives believe he may have spent time in the Basildon area of Essex. He also has links to East London and Woolwich in south-east London.

Mahmood Jama died at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel just two hours after being found with a gunshot wound on the first-floor of Whyteville House block of flats in Upton Lane, Forest Gate, just after 1am on January 6.

Detectives believe there was a fight between two groups of men on a disused garage forecourt in Upton Lane which spilled over into Whyteville House, where Mr Jama was shot.

Five men were arrested, but all were later released with no charges. A sixth man is on police bail.

Meanwhile, detectives continue looking for Mohamed Faraj Ali and are appealing for anyone with information about his whereabouts or who witnessed the shooting on January 6 to call the incident room on 020-8721 4906, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
