The 31-year-old Czech citizen is believed to have been on his way home from a party when he got into a row with a teenager inside Perfect Fried Chicken in Poplar.

Zdenek died after being attacked in the shop East India Dock Road in Poplar shortly before midnight on Wednesday.

A post-mortem at Poplar mortuary held today put cause of death as traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage. Zdenek’s next of kin have been informed.

Detectives are trying to track down at least four youths who followed Zdenek outside the fast food outlet before attacking him, leaving him in a pool of blood on a footpath opposite All Saints DLR station.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.22am yesterday.

A nearby off licence worker believes some of the group may have been inside his shop before the incident.

“Three of them came in the shop just before, one girl and two boys,” the shop-worker told the East London Advertiser.

“They went to the chicken shop where they had an argument. The next morning the road was closed and the police came and took our CCTV.”

Adenek was reported to be in a good mood after being out for drinks after work before getting embroiled in a “silly exchange of words”, an employee at the takeaway told a reporter.

A Met Homicide and Major Crime Command spokesman said: “We believe the man was involved in an altercation in the takeaway and was then followed down the street and attacked.”

Detectives are appealing for anyone in the area or witnesses who saw the incident to contact them. There have been no arrests.
