Summer sparks fresh appeal for blood

AN APPEAL for donors to register during the August summer break has been made by the Blood Transfusion service. Regular donors away on holiday cause a fall in numbers, while demand for supplies from hospital continues daily. Hospitals need 287,000 blood donations across London and the South East every year, topping the national league table compared to other regions

AN APPEAL for donors to register during the August summer break has been made by the Blood Transfusion service.

Regular donors away on holiday cause a fall in numbers, while demand for supplies from hospital continues daily.

Hospitals need 287,000 blood donations across London and the South East every year, topping the national league table compared to other regions up and down the country.

New donors have to be between 17 and 60, in general good health and weigh more than 7st 12lbs.

They can register or find where donor sessions are being held can call the National Helpline 24 hours a day on 08457-711711, or go online:
