MEDICAL students in the East End have raised £170,000 for charity.

Fundraisers at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, based in Whitechapel, have collected the cash for a host of charities including Barts and the London Charity which raises money for patients at the nearby Royal London Hospital.

The British Heart Foundation, British Lung Foundation and mental health charity SANE, have also been the lucky receivers after the students held a range of fundraising events throughout the year.

Among the events was a fashion show at the Troxy in Commercial Road, when more than 80 students choreographed the evening and strutted their stuff on the catwalk.
