Unexploded WWII bomb found near Spitalfields market

Old Spitalfields Market has been evacuated after an unexploded WWII bomb was found on a building site on Commercial Street this morning.

Police called at 9.44am when construction workers on the site at the junction with Brushfield Street found the ‘ordnance’.

Cordons are in place and explosives officers are on scene.

Scotland Yard said: “Please avoid the area whilst emergency services deal with the incident.”
