West London Eagles welcome NEM Hawks on Saturday in a north-south battle where both the women and men’s teams will face off.

On Sunday, it’s the turn of Cambridge to travel to the capital to take on London GD – whose teams top the mens’ and womens’ Premier Handball Leagues tables.

GD women have won all their matches so far this season, while the men have suffered just one defeat.

Eagles women, with top Norwegian goalkeeper Anette Utby between the sticks, will be in for a tough game against the Manchester-based Hawks. Just two points separate Hawks in second from Eagles in third in what will be a keenly contested match.

Hawks will hope to have 2012 Olympian Holly Lam-Moores – one of the league’s top goal scorers – on the team sheet.

Eagles men have struggled this season and sit second from bottom in the table. Hawks are fifth in the mens’ table and will look to build on their win against defending champions Warrington Wolves and return north with the full three points.

On Sunday, London GD – the country’s leading handball club on current form – welcome Cambridge to Barking. The men have lost just once this season, but London rivals Olympia are breathing down their neck and they will be going all-out to stay on track for a possible double.

Last season London GD women suffered heartache as they were narrowly pipped to the title by one point and were runners-up in the England Handball National Cup.

They will want to go one step better in both competitions and like the men have also reached the semi-finals of the England Handball National Cup and have an eye on the double.

It’s a weekend of Premier Handball League action at Barking Sporthouse so why not go down and watch the most exciting, high scoring, action packed, contact, team sport.

*The Premier Handball League runs from September until April, with the England Handball National Cup takes place from December to May.

The Premier Handball League is composed of teams from across England, in an eight-team format for men and women.
