London Lions have announced that guard Jordan Spencer will begin his professional career in the capital next season.

The six foot two inch point guard is a product of the Lions’ development system right from its days in Milton Keynes and last played for the Lions in 2012/13 before he headed off to join the University of Augustana in the USA.

At Augustana, Spencer followed his Freshman of the Year title by winning the Division 2 NCAA National Title and was voted All Conference First Team in 2017 and 2018, whilst leading the Conference in assists.

He has just completed his senior season averaging 16 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds per game and the London-born, Milton Keynes native, leaves Augustana as the player with most assists in school history, most minutes played, most games started and ninth all-time in scoring.

Spencer is delighted to be back in the UK, saying: “I’m excited for the opportunity to start my career with the Lions. I started as a Lion and this is poetic to be in a position to play in the biggest city, the best venue and with team mates like Justin Robinson and Brandon Peel. I am so over the moon!”

Lions’ head coach Vince Macaulay added: “I don’t think there was any question we would make Jordan a priority signing for us.

“He is a product of what we do as Lions and the players we develop, it is a great situation for us both and we are the team that brings the best British players to play in England.

“His tenacity and drive is something to see, I can’t wait to get all our guys together to start work!”

Fans will see Spencer and the rest of the Lions together for the first time at the Essex Classic at Brentwood Leisure Centre on September 8-9, before the season tips off at the Copper Box on September 21 when the Glasgow Rocks are the visitors.
