Peacock gym power-punchers Anthony Yarde and Daniel Dubois provided fireworks to thrill the fans at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday.

Before top-of-the-bill WBO world champion Billy Joe Saunders punched out a points win over American challenger Willie Monroe Jr, it was Yarde and Dubois supplying the explosive action.

Promoter Frank Warren purred his praise for the pair who look like developing into his top London attractions as their ticket sales climb with every appearance.

Once again Yarde gave his supporters what they wanted as he battered brave Hungarian Norbert Nemesaparti through three one-sided rounds in the WBO European light-heavyweight title fight.

Crushing left and right hooks rocked the Hungarian who took two counts in the second round before retiring on his stool at the end of the third.

“He deserved credit. He took some hard shots and came back fighting,” said Yarde, who took his impressive record to 12 stoppages in 13 straight victories despite his training being affected by illness in his family.

Destructive Dubois, who has only just turned 20, took just 48 seconds to win his Southern Area heavyweight title clash with South Londoner AJ Carter and looks more lethal with every appearance in his campaign of five early wins.

A fierce assault saw Carter crumble to the canvas twice before taking the finishing right that left him stretched out on the canvas for several minutes.

“I am working hard and learning all the time and it was good to win the Area title, now I want to move onwards and upwards,” said the man-mountain trained by Peacock gym boss Martin Bowers.

The busy Copper Box bill also saw winning action for local super-bantamweight Lucien Reid and super-middleweight Umar Sadiq.

Reid, who won amateur titles at Repton and West Ham, scored his seventh straight paid win as he outpointed Barcelona-based journeyman Jose Aguilar over six rounds.

New pro Sadiq scored a points win over Lewis van Poetsch, landing long-range punches, and said: “I know I will improve with more experience.”
