Kadeen Corbin believes Matchroom MultiSport supremo Barry Hearn’s investment into his innovative netball venture Just Eat British Fast5 All-Stars Championship is destined to be a success after it’s debut at the O2 in North Greenwich.

The Dagenham-based stars’ Team Bath outfit agonisingly missed out on the £25,000 top prize pot when they were narrowly beaten 35-33 by Loughborough Lightning in the final last.

South African Renske Stolz responded to Corbin’s three-pointer by sinking a five point shot with just 15 seconds left to steal victory for the Leicestershire based-side.

Despite the defeat, shooting specialist Corbin, 25, sister of fellow England netball international Sasha and cousin of Newham & Essex Beagles athletics sprint star Asha Philip, was delighted to be involved in the £100,000 netball tournament.

“It is not every day you come across a competition in our sport which is for money so I think this is a great incentive,” she said. “Getting people out there and giving them exposure, this is great for pre-season and just getting everyone on the court, its fun!”

Corbin is very keen to have Hearn’s tournament on the regular fixture list.

“With this format or even the normal Super League it’s a feisty game,” continued Corbin, who also had a spell in athletics with Newham & Essex Beagles.

“Everyone is bringing it out, everyone wants to win, every shooter wants to go 1, 3 and 5, this is just good. The crowd energy is just absolutely amazing here and if we can do this every year and just getting that more feel, get Sky involved so much more, I think it will be a winner.

“The more people see it, the more people get involved, definitely we can do this on a regular basis.”

Corbin is pleased to return to Blue and Golds after four years with spells at Hertfordshire Mavericks, Loughborough Lightning and last season with New Zealand ANZ Premiership outfit Christchurch-based Silvermoon Tactix.

She assisted the West Country club win a record fifth Super League title in her final season back in 2013.

“It’s great to be back with Team Bath,” Corbin added. “It’s just great to come out and play, feel the flair, feel everyone’s, what everyone’s about and their ability, and it’s just working so far, so I’m absolutely fizz with the decision that I made.”
