Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he will be a West Ham fan today – as he gives the East Enders his full support in their bid to beat top four rivals Liverpool at the London Stadium.

With the Gunners winning 4-1 at Stoke City yesterday to move within one point of Liverpool with only two games remaining the long-serving Frenchman is willing the Irons to take points off Jurgen Klopp’s side today in order to qualify for the Champions League for the 21st season in a row.

Slaven Bilic’s team is in a good run of form after all but ending Spurs title hopes with a 1-0 win earlier this month.

They have also shored up their backline since he switched to a three-man defence, conceding a miserly two goals in their previous five matches – all of which have seen them remain unbeaten.

Speaking after the game in the Potteries, Wenger urged on the Irons saying: “Yes, West Ham will have all my support against Liverpool.

“We need to move to 72 points and do our job. We will see what happens. We will keep fighting until the end.”

A brace from Olivier Giroud, a Mesut Ozil goal, involving a sublime through-ball from Alexis Sanchez, and a goal from the Chilean saw Arsenal show character to thrash Mark Hughes’ Stoke side, as the race for fourth spot hots up – starting with today’s crucial game in East London.
