Daggers and O’s to meet again at Brisbane Road on Tuesday night

Dagenham & Redbridge and Leyton Orient have a history of thrilling cup matches against each other, and Daggers boss John Still expects another game to be added to that list on Tuesday night.

After the two National League clubs played out a goalless draw in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round on Saturday, they will meet again in the replay at Brisbane Road to see who progresses to the first round.

The two sides first met in the FA Cup 25 years ago when Daggers, who were also managed by Still in that game, lost 5-4 at home to the O’s in the first round.

When the sides met in the second round of the 2011-12 Football League Trophy, they produced what was then the highest-scoring penalty shootout in professional football history.

And Still, somewhat humorously, suggested Tuesday’s replay could also go the distance.

“I’m hoping for another 14-13 penalty shoot-out win!” joked Still.

“I have an affinity with Leyton Orient and I’m delighted they are on the rise after unbelievable mismanagement in the past few years that has left in a position I feel they shouldn’t be in.

“I’m always pleased when they do well, but not particularly on Saturday!”

Over 2,500 fans were in attendance on Saturday to see the local rivals meet in the cup, which was Daggers’ biggest gate of the season so far.

And Still expects another decent crowd to be present at Brisbane Road to witness the replay.

“I love cup football and the fact we drew Leyton Orient because it gave the game on Saturday a great atmosphere. We’ve had it once and we have another to do and I’m looking forward.”
