Ferrier returns to Boreham Wood, while Ling is back at Leyton Orient

Morgan Ferrier and Sam Ling have left Dagenham & Redbridge to join National League rivals Boreham Wood and Leyton Orient respectively.

Ferrier rejoins Wood for an undisclosed fee, having only joined Daggers from the Meadow Park outfit last summer.

In 29 appearances for the Essex club, Ferrier netted nine goals and was also called up to the England C squad.

However, after less than a season at Victoria Road, Ferrier has now returned to Wood, who have broken their club record fee to sign the attacker.

On the deal, Wood chairman Danny Hunter told his club website: “Football is a mad, mad business. One minute I’m in meetings dealing with our north stand planning application that gets heard on Thursday.

“When the gaffer (Luke Garrard) walks in and tells me that things have gone wrong at Dagenham, their owner Glyn Hopkins (sic) has pulled his money, Morgan Ferrier has been made available and Morg’s wants to come back to us.

“All I could do was laugh as I thought it was a complete wind up – but I knew if it were true and if I could strike the right deal with both Dagenham and the player, then it was a complete no brainier for me.

“Thankfully, I was in a position to match Dagenham’s valuation and get the deal done with John Still, Steve Thompson and Morgan’s agent Leon Anderson.

“It was not a particularly difficult or protracted deal and I must thank all those guys mentioned for their complete professionalism throughout, in what must be a very difficult situation to find themselves in.”

Ling, meanwhile, has also rejoined a former side, returning to Orient where he was previously captain for the east Londoners’ under-18 side.

The defender, who has moved to O’s for an undisclosed fee and has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal, will link up with dad Martin, who is the director of football at Brisbane Road.

“During the January Transfer window, I identified players who I thought would benefit the club this season but more particularly next season,” Orient head coach Justin Edinburgh told the club website.

“Sam was high on my list and had attracted interest from Football League sides so we’re delighted to bring him back to the club.

“As Sam is the son of our director of football, it was decided that Martin was to remove himself from the decision which was ultimately made by me in consultation with the board.”
