Sporting Bengal United were held for a point in an eight goal thriller against new boys Saffron Walden at Catons Lane this weekend.

It looked bleak for the visitors when two Charlie Portway goals and a Lewis Francis strike had the hosts three up in 26 minutes.

Captain Freddy Tandon was then sent off and you felt their was no way back for the visitors then.

But Tony Cookey and then Zakariya Haque pulled it back to 3-2, but when Portway completed his hat-trick just past the hour, you felt that was game over.

Not a bit of it though, as Ashaan Siddik and Steven Carvell netted to salvage a point for the Mile End side and complete an incredible afternoon.

Elsewhere, local rivals Clapton got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win against Stanway Rovers thanks to a first-half brace from Eusebio Da Silva at the Hawthorns.
