Leyton Orient manager Alberto Cavasin accepts they have to find a greater level of consistency in their performance.

The O’s produced some good spells during today’s 2-1 defeat to Luton Town in League Two, but were punished for sloppy errors.

Cameron McGeehan put the Hatters ahead with half an hour gone before Danny Hylton doubled their advantage in the 75th minute.

Although Ollie Palmer pulled one back for the east Londoners four minutes later, it wasn’t enough as they lost again at Brisbane Road.

“I think we have a lot of areas where we have to improve,” said Cavasin via a translator after the defeat.

“The performance for some moments of the game was positive. We have to keep up a more consistent level of football during the match.

“We need to try to risk less when it comes to conceding a goal and be more of a team with total consistency.

“These type of errors happen when trying to put little things in place for the individuals and all areas of the whole team.”

Jay Simpson was surprisingly at fault for the opener – losing the ball deep inside Orient’s half.

Luton were suddenly on the attack and though Alex Cisak saved from Jack Marriott, McGeehan was on hand to tap home.

The second occurred after Yvan Erichot lost Marriott and the Hatters forward eventually set up Hylton.

Ollie Palmer reduced the arrears four minutes later after smart work by substitute Paul McCallum.

The ex-West Ham United youngster replaced Simpson in the 68th minute, Cavasin added: “I was going to take Jay off the pitch anyway, but he felt something in his left leg and we’ll check it out on Monday.

“I thought Paul did quite well on the pitch, actually I would say very well and from all of the matches he has played – this is his best game.”

But it wasn’t enough to see Orient halt their poor run of form which has seen them slump to 22nd in the table.

Only Barnet’s 4-1 home defeat to Exeter City prevented Cavasin’s men dropping into the relegation places on another frustrating afternoon.
