Justin Edinburgh’s Orient didn’t taste defeat last month, but the Whites lost four of their five games in all competitions

Dover Athletic boss Chris Kinnear is hoping to see his team return to winning ways in the National League at home to Leyton Orient on Saturday.

The Whites will be happy to see the end of February after suffering four defeats out of five during the month.

Kinnear’s men defeated Dagenham & Redbridge the last time they played at the Crabble Athletic Ground on February 20, but lost 3-1 at AFC Fylde last weekend.

“We want to get the winning habit back on Saturday,” Kinnear told the official club website.

“Obviously we won our game before Fylde against Dagenham, so that was a good result and we just need to pick ourselves up.”

Athletic took the lead at the Coasters on Saturday through Mitch Pinnock, but the hosts fought back to claim the points.

The defeat saw Dover drop to ninth in the table and out of the play-off positions and Kinnear felt they could have played better up in Lancashire.

He added: “We tried to overplay a little bit on a really bobbly pitch and when it was windy, but it was the same for both sides. We need to move on now and try to get three points on Saturday.”

With less than two months of the campaign, there is plenty still to play for at the top and bottom parts of the table.

Dover are part of the teams battling for a play-off position while Orient still have work to do.

Justin Edinburgh’s team are 16th in the standings and eight points off the bottom four on 42 points.

“There is a long way to go still,” said Kinnear. “I know everyone keeps staying that, but it is true and everyone is thinking it. It was just disappointing after being one up in conditions like they were that we couldn’t see the game out at Fylde.”

Orient will potentially be facing a wounded animal on Saturday, though Edinburgh will expect a reaction from his players as well after they let slip a three-goal lead in their FA Trophy quarter-finals at home to Gateshead last weekend.
