Young midfielder departs Brisbane Road to join Welling United on a permanent basis

Welling United have confirmed the permanent signing of midfielder Harry Lee from Leyton Orient subject to paperwork being finalised.

The 20-year-old has been on-loan at the Park View Road club for much of the season and made a huge impression for the National League outfit.

Orient head coach Ian Hendon praised Lee during the summer, but the youngster suffered an injury which prevented him from showing his ability for most of pre-season.

He joined the Wings in August and although he has been recalled on a couple of occasions, the midfielder has made 23 appearances in total for them this season.

Lee returned to the O’s on December 31 but wasn’t able to play at Stevenage on January 2 because he was injured.

Now he has decided to depart Brisbane Road after making seven appearances for the east Londoners since progressing through the academy.

After making his debut as an 82nd minute substitute against Oldham Athletic at Brisbane Road on April 27 2013, he has found opportunities hard to come by and now leaves Orient in search of regular first team football at Welling.
