Last weekend, Leyton Orient confirmed they would be live streaming Saturday’s FA Trophy tie with Gateshead to supporters outside of the UK.

The Brisbane Road club have been working hard behind the scenes, since Nigel Travis and Kent Teague completed their takeover on June 22, to try and take advantage of the interest in football and the latest technology available.

When Travis, Teague and the other members of the consortium named Eagle Investments 2017 Limited made the decision to try and buy Orient, live streaming to fans outside of the United Kingdom was always part of their business plan.

Now it is a possibility, at least for this weekend’s last-eight tie, which will kick-off at 3pm on Saturday.

The live stream is set have both pre-match interviews and commentary with the expectation that this will set a standard for potential future broadcasts.

It will be sponsored by Baskin-Robbins, ice cream famous for its 31 flavours, and the live-video stream will be priced at $9.99 (£7.12) and will be available to fans outside of the UK.

The website the stream will be hosted on was revealed earlier this week to be https://ozonelive.streamamg.com/?lang=en

It is understood this is the first time an FA Trophy game, other than the final, has been aired outside of the UK and Leyton Orient are using this to attract potential fans who may be interested in supporting a famous football club in London as well as gauging the business interest for future sponsorship.

Danny Macklin, O’s chief executive, told the official club website: “We are excited about this initiative and believe that this will start a new commercial venture for Leyton Orient in the future.

“The game is expected to be very competitive and the perfect game to launch International streaming.”

UK-based supporters who want to attend the match can get adult tickets for just £10, for concessions it is £5 and it is only £1 for under-18s.

A victory for Orient would secure them a spot in the semi-finals of the competition and leave them just two games away from a Wembley final on May 20.
