The experienced goalkeeper took his first steps into coaching last summer, but will put those plans on hand again for now

Leyton Orient goalkeeper Dean Brill will focus purely on playing this season with the club set to bring in a new goalkeeper coach.

The 32-year-old joined the O’s last August as a goalkeeper coach having not played in a competitive match since April 2015 for Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

He signed playing terms in case he was needed and was called upon in December as Justin Edinburgh decided he would take young duo Charlie Grainger and Sam Sargeant out of the firing line.

Brill remained as Orient’s number one for the rest of the campaign while coaching in the week, but will now ditch his coaching role and focus on playing for the next two years.

The ex-Luton Town stopper signed a new deal with the club in February which will keep him at Brisbane Road until the summer of 2020.

After deciding to allow Brill to concentrate on playing, the O’s will be on the look out for a new goalkeeper coach and will most likely appoint one shortly with the players back in training on Wednesday.
