Leyton Orient fought back from a goal down to win at Brisbane Road for the first time since Boxing Day and stave off the threat of relegation for a little longer with a fine 2-1 success over Hartlepool United on Monday.

Omer Riza’s team went behind after eight minutes, but teenage duo Victor Adeboyejo and Tristan Abrahams turned the match around.

Despite some nervy second-half moments, O’s held on to claim a vital three points and avoid relegation for now.

Sam Sargeant (6.5) – Not too much for the youngster to do and given little chance with opener, but his kicking wasn’t up to his usual high standards and perhaps he could have came for cross which caused problems for O’s at death. Great celebrations for both of the goals though!

Michael Clark (8) – Outstanding display by the former under-18 captain, as he played at right-back before switching to a back three and then back to a four. He always looks so composed on the ball and delivered quality going forward and defending strongly at full-back. His best performing for Orient to date.

Aron Pollock (8) – Another solid showing by the 19-year-old and came up trumps right at the death with a crucial clearance off the line and played key part in winner with driving run forward and accurate pass into Steven Alzate’s path.

Teddy Mezague (6.5) – French ace was at fault for opener and then made poor error at end, which nearly punished O’s. Despite those moments, powerful central defender showed his strength on numerous occasions and did better than usual.

Sandro Semedo (8) – Excellent display and one of his best for a long time despite some poor defending for opener. He caused Hartlepool all sorts of problems and had his full repertoire of tricks out in force.

Michael Collins (7.5) – Another tireless performance from the reliable midfielder, who has been so consistent this month. He compliments Liam Kelly so well and played a vital role in this victory.

Liam Kelly (8.5) – Captain fantastic once again lead from the front and was involved in everything O’s did. He won tackles, kept possession, drove the team forward and with the help of Collins, orchestrated this young team over the line to a crucial victory.

Henry Ochieng (7.5) – Energetic display by the busy midfielder, who demonstrated his versatility by playing in a number of positions. He was unlucky with a fierce drive and carried the ball well for Orient.

Steven Alzate (8.5) – The teen was simply unplayable at times and Hartlepool tried everything, but couldn’t knock him off his stride. Despite his size, he always seems to wriggle out of tight situations with the ball and is stronger than he looks. His feet are exceptional and was heavily involved in both goals.

Tristan Abrahams (8) – A threat all afternoon and caused the visitors plenty of problems with the ball at his feet or with his physicality. Wonderful composure for his goal and could have had more except for some fine saves and decent defending by away side.

Victor Adeboyejo (8) – Big striker ran himself into the ground and this time he got his reward with good finish at near post. He was a nuisance throughout and held the ball up really well and combined impressively with Abrahams.

Substitutes:

Paul McCallum, for Alzate 70. (6.5) – Good to see the ex-West Ham United forward back again and he linked up with the youngsters up top well and eased some of the pressure in the dying moments.

Josh Koroma, for Adeboyejo 76.

Freddy Moncur, for Abrahams 84.
