Fleet boss Daryl McMahon excited to manage against his old club and admits occasions like Saturday are why Ebbsfleet wanted promotion

Ebbsfleet United manager Daryl McMahon expects a reaction from his players when Leyton Orient visit Stonebridge Road on Saturday.

Fleet suffered a 6-2 defeat at home to League One outfit Doncaster Rovers last weekend despite leading by two goals approaching half time.

A terrible end to the half saw them come in level and Rovers proved too strong after the break.

But McMahon is keen for Ebbsfleet to respond when O’s visit and it is a big day for the recently promoted club with their new £5 million stand open for the first time.

“I expect a reaction from Saturday even though Doncaster are two league above us,” Fleet’s manager told BBC Kent.

“Orient are not on a good run, but they’ll come here and the stand’s open, so it should be a good day for us.

“It’s on the TV (BT Sport), so we’re looking forward to it and this is the whole reason you get promoted.

“Leyton Orient at home, on the television, so happy days, but we’ve got to bounce back and perform now.

“We’re enjoying the big games and we’ve got to make sure we get our heads down now for Saturday.”

Ebbsfleet are 13th in the table with 25 points to their name – six places and six points better off than Orient.

Fleet held Sutton United to a goalless draw last time out in the National League on October 28.

Prior to that, McMahon’s team had lost 1-0 at home to Torquay United (October 24) and bear Barrow 3-2 at Stonebridge Road (October 21).
