Few would have predicted it after a goalless first half, but Leyton Orient suffered a 4-0 defeat to Northampton Town on Saturday.

The League Two leaders scored four times after the interval to show just why they are top of the division.

Kevin Nolan’s men matched them during the first 45 at Brisbane Road, but had no answer after the break.

Alex Cisak (6) – Little he could do about first two goals, but might have done better with third while fourth was a good finish.

Nicky Hunt (5.5) – Not the best afternoon for the former Bolton Wanderers ace, lucky James Collins missed good chance in first half after he was ball watching and could have done more for first and fourth goals.

Mathieu Baudry (6) – Admitted afterwards Orient lost their way in second period and like most of the team could have defended lot better, but had a very good first 45.

Shaun Brisley (7) – Former Cobblers loanee wouldn’t have enjoyed this experience, but was one of O’s best performers on the day.

Frazer Shaw (6) – Poor header for Ricky Holmes’ stunning strike and also failed to deal with corner for Town’s first.

Calaum Jahraldo-Martin (5) – Hull City loanee was very quiet, although did look sharp in opening exchanges, but faded badly and was subbed off.

Jack Payne (5.5) – A couple of decent bits of play in first half, but disappointing after the break and could have done more for Holmes goal. Unlucky with first.

Sammy Moore (5) – Back pass to Payne was catalyst for poor second period and he tired badly as Northampton dominated Orient in midfield.

Jobi McAnuff (6) – Main person trying to get the hosts back into the game after break, but delivery was lacking at times, especially from set pieces.

Kevin Nolan (6) – Very good first half, showed his intelligence on number of occasions, but fatigue played part in second as he failed to impact the game.

Jay Simpson (5.5) – Frustrating afternoon for League Two’s top goalscorer, hardly got a sniff and when he did, he wasn’t at his best. Three matches without a goal now.

Substitutes:

Armand Gnanduillet, for Jahraldo-Martin 67. (5.5) – French forward scuffed good chance wide before defending poorly for third and fourth goals, especially last one.

Bradley Pritchard, for Moore 78.

Ollie Palmer, for Payne 85.
