Leyton Orient suffered a sixth League Two defeat at Brisbane Road on Saturday with Jack Marriott scoring the only goal of the game for Luton Town.

The Hatters departed east London with all three points after putting in an impressive defensive showing led by Scott Cuthbert.

Kevin Nolan’s men endured a frustrating day, struggling to create any clear cut chances and losing Shaun Brisley to a head injury.

Alex Cisak (6) – Orient’s number one didn’t have much to do, but shouldn’t have been lobbed from angle he was by Marriott.

Nicky Hunt (7) – Right-back was solid enough before moving to the centre of defence and impressed again, very steady since move.

Mathieu Baudry (7) – Made one stunning tackle on Marriott in first half and couldn’t be faulted too much for the opener, another encouraging performance.

Shaun Brisley (5) – A forgettable afternoon for Peterborough United loanee, got in a right mess for the goal and should have gone with his header instead of trying to clear with his foot. And then was knocked out soon afterwards - hopefully he is okay.

Jerome Binnom-Williams (7) – Crystal Palace youngster is growing in confidence, produced a lot of flicks and tricks on Saturday and delivered some decent crosses.

Sean Clohessy (5) – Struggled to beat his first man with crosses and get past marker, difficult afternoon and didn’t improve too much at right-back.

Nigel Atangana (6) – Former Portsmouth man looked tired, still worked hard in midfield, but three matches in a week appeared to have taken it out of him.

Kevin Nolan (5.5) – Similar to his midfield partner, didn’t look fully fit and although he got in some good positions, couldn’t make his impact felt.

Sammy Moore (7) – Another good showing from midfielder, who is filling a void on the left. Put in some dangerous balls and got better when he switched to the right.

Ollie Palmer (5.5) – Big forward struggled to win much in the air and was substituted early in second half after producing little.

Jay Simpson (5.5) – Frustrating afternoon for League Two’s top goalscorer, feeding off scraps and ball just didn’t seem to drop for him.

Substitutes:

Jobi McAnuff, for Brisley 37. (6.5) – Worked hard on his return from injury and looked most likely to produce an equaliser, will start at Oxford.

Armand Gnanduillet, for Palmer 61. (5.5) – French forward failed to make the most of some good positions and went down too easily for penalty appeal.

Calaum Jahraldo-Martin, for Moore 68. (5) – Hull City loanee has impressed since moving to Brisbane Road, but wasn’t great against the Hatters and his end product was poor.
