Leyton Orient started life under new player-manager Kevin Nolan with a solid victory over play-off contenders Wycombe Wanderers.

Jay Simpson opened the scoring in the 64th minute after a goalless and forgettable first half at Adams Park.

The O’s always looked in control and Calaum Jahraldo-Martin sealed the points with a fine goal a minute before full time.

It capped an excellent day at the office for Nolan and ensured he begins his managerial career with success.

Alex Cisak (6.5) – A very comfortable afternoon for the Australian, who didn’t need to make a save at Adams Park.

Sean Clohessy (7) – Good defensive display by the right-back, he coped well with his opponent and made key block late on.

Mathieu Baudry (7.5) – Captain was back on the pitch and helped himself to an assist, which capped a top performance on his return.

Connor Essam (7) – A lot better from the defender who has come in for criticism of late, he won his fair share in the air, but didn’t use the ball well enough in first half.

Frazer Shaw (7.5) – Solid again from former West Ham United youngster as he got forward on occasions to good affect as well as defending strongly.

Calaum Jahraldo-Martin (8.5) – Wonderful first start from the Hull City loanee as he caused Wycombe left-back Joe Jacobson problems all afternoon. Not only did he attack well and score a superb goal, he tracked back excellently too.

Jack Payne (7) – Peterborough loanee had another new midfield partner alongside him, but was tidy in possession and protected the back four well.

Nigel Atangana (8) – Excellent debut from the former Portsmouth man, he won everything in the air, tackled everyone and made fouls at the right time. Top display.

Jobi McAnuff (7) – Jamaican international used his experience impressively and like everyone else worked extremely hard at both ends of the pitch.

Ollie Palmer (7.5) – During the first half he battled, but got little joy against the Chairboys defence, but looked like a forward transformed after the break as he won absolutely everything.

Jay Simpson (8) – League Two’s top goalscorer showed his class with a clinical finish and a wonderful pass to set up Orient’s second - it showed last week against Exeter City was firmly a tiny blip.

Substitutes:

Bradley Pritchard, for Atangana 72. (6.5) – The Zimbabwean worked hard during his little cameo and put his foot in when needed.

Armand Gnanduillet, for Palmer 80.
