The O’s won at Brisbane Road on Tuesday and now have two more home fixtures coming up over the next week

Macauley Bonne wants the winning feeling to become a familiar one for Leyton Orient again after ending their poor run on Tuesday night at home to Dagenham & Redbridge.

The O’s progressed into the first round of the FA Cup after the former Colchester United forward netted the only goal of the game at Brisbane Road in the 23rd minute.

It ended Orient’s eight-match run without a victory and gives them more belief going into Saturday’s clash in E10 with National League leaders Macclesfield Town plus Tuesday’s encounter at home to Gateshead.

Bonne said: “When the final whistle went there was a big sigh of relief because we won again.

“Everyone needed that, especially after the last few weeks and now we’ve got it again.

“It’s on to Saturday now where we’ll try to get another victory and put in another good performance.”

Although Orient will be hosting a Macclesfield team which has won their last five games in all competitions, Steve Davis’ side will fancy their chances.

Even during their recent poor form, they picked up a good result away to Aldershot Town in what was an open contest and enjoyed going up against a Daggers outfit which wanted to attack rather than sit back.

The Silkmen will be the same, you imagine, so Orient will approach the match with more belief and Bonne’s confidence is now sky high again after he broke his duck.

He added: “Saturday’s match might be open, but put anyone in front of me and I’ll play because I have no fear.”

Orient may not have won on Tuesday had some of their young guns not shone at the back and in goal.

Charlie Grainger made a number of crucial saves, while Michael Clark made a stunning tackle in stoppage time to deny Daggers Morgan Ferrier.

Myles Judd looked impressive again, while Dan Happe continues to come of age and they could all keep their starting XI spot on Saturday.

The hope will be Orient’s win over Dagenham can act as a turning point after their recent poor form.

“Of course it can kick-start the season,” said Bonne. “You saw the reaction from the players after and how much we want it.

“We hadn’t been getting the luck over the last few weeks, but we did (on Tuesday) and now it is going to kick-start our season.”
