Leyton Orient John Marquis insists they don’t fear League Two leaders Plymouth Argyle ahead of facing them this evening at Home Park.

Ian Hendon’s men go into the fixture following a 3-2 win over York City on Saturday at Brisbane Road.

Meanwhile the hosts were beaten in front of their own fans by local rivals Exeter City, but still remain at the summit.

Argyle have lost their last three matches at Home Park and Marquis believes the O’s are more than capable of beating anybody in the division.

He said: “We know what Plymouth are about. They are at the top for a reason and that’s because they are a good team.

“We are not going there with fear, we are going there optimistic and looking up and hopefully we can get a good result.

“Obviously we are still in and around it, we are in the play-offs and we haven’t been playing our best.

“People in the league have got to realise when we do start playing our best we are going to be a force to reckoned with.”

The Millwall man will hope the same can be said about himself after he delivered arguably his best display in an Orient shirt on Saturday.

Marquis dribbled past three York players to set up Jay Simpson’s opener and worked tirelessly against the Minstermen.

He accepts that he hasn’t been as consistent as he would have liked, but will do whatever it takes to help the Brisbane Road outfit.

“At times maybe my performances have not been up to my standards and maybe I had a bit of expectation coming in,” admitted Marquis.

“I feel when I play in my best position I have a lot to offer, but I am playing in a different role and all I can do is just help the team as much as I can whether it is on the right, left, up front, left-back or in goal!

“I will do whatever I can to help Leyton Orient. That is what I am here for and as long as we keep winning that is all that matters.”

It had been speculated recently that Marquis could be recalled to Millwall if they were to suffer an injury to a forward player.

But the 23-year-old hinted that he would be happy to sign permanently with the O’s come January time when his loan ends.

Marquis added: “I just want to be playing games and I have given myself a chance now to really show people what I can do.

“Hopefully I can put in a few more performances like the one I delivered against York before the end of my loan spell. I have worked with ‘Hessy’ before and obviously he spoke to the manager before I even came here.

“Leyton Orient is a club with big aspirations so you can never rule anything out in football, but at the moment I am just looking to keep playing games until January and then I will reassess my situation.”
