19-year-old has been recalled by parent club QPR
Queens Park Rangers have recalled young defender Cole Kpekawa from his loan at Leyton Orient.
The 19-year-old initially joined the O’s back in November when Ian Hendon was head coach at the club.
He impressed and was a regular for the east Londoners with Hendon at the helm either in the heart of defence or at left-back.
But after Hendon’s departure, following the loss to Exeter City on January 16, the QPR ace hasn’t featured under new player-manager Kevin Nolan.
His loan at Brisbane Road was extended recently, but the west London club have made the decision to recall the youngster.
Kpekawa has been nursing an injury of late and that is why Nolan hasn’t been able to select him.
The teenager departs Orient after making nine appearances for the League Two club, who have recently signed Shaun Brisley and Nicky Hunt – both options at the back.
A statement on the QPR website read: “Defender Cole Kpekawa has been recalled from his loan spell at Leyton Orient today.
“The R’s have activated a 24-hour recall option following his move to Brisbane Road.”
It is believed the Championship outfit will send the youngster to another club next week when the loan market opens again.
“The club would like to thank Cole for his service and wish him all the best for the future,” read a statement on the Orient website.
